Going to the airport and stepping onto the airplane is part of the excitement of traveling. When booking your flight where do you normally sit? If you answered either first class or business class then you must know how luxurious and special both those classes are. However, for those that have not flown in either class, have you ever wondered what the difference was between the two? There is not a dramatic difference between them, but there are some variables that set them apart.
A key point to remember is that every experience can be different per airline, and whether you are traveling internationally or not. Airlines treat their passengers flying internally significantly better than domestic passengers. This is only improved even more when you are flying in business or first class.
Business class vs first class; the variables that set them apart are simply their airport lounges, seats, food and drinks, and in- flight service and amenities.
Airport Lounges
In the business-class airport lounges, you can expect to see a number of frequent flyers, upper-tier status flyers or lounge members. This lounge is dedicated to passengers that fly often enough that they are given a priority pass for the lounge. Of course, you don’t need to be a member, as long as you have a pass you can enter the lounge. While relaxing here you can expect to see a tasty buffet and a well-stocked bar.
First Class is even more exclusive and fancy. You will be greeted by a waiter when you arrive, and then will be seated in a private section. You will be offered more food and drink options that are not available at the buffet, or in the business class lounge.
Seats
Comfort is key, especially on long flights. Sitting in business class you will get more legroom than in economy, and the seats can be adjusted to recline back. In addition, larger personal TV screens, laptop powered ports, and food and wine service are offered. On the other hand, first class is a step up! Their seats give you, even more, leg room than in business class, similar reclining seats, and personal TV screens, but their menu selection is impressive. Head Chef from Michelin- starred restaurants prepared the menus, which will be accompanied by an amazing wine selection.
Service and Amenities
Nothing beats traveling in style! Business class will take care of you by providing flyers with sleep masks, skin care products, and an assortment of toiletries. If you like the sounds of that, first class amenities puts that to shame. First class comes stocked with brand name perfumes for ladies and cologne for men, lip balm, shoe horns, shoe polish, travel size mirrors and sometimes even silk pajamas. Lastly first class will give all these amenities to you in a stylish eye-catching bag just to top it all off!
As for the service, the main difference is that first class service is more proactive. By proactive this means that your flight attendants will be at your every request, they will anticipate your desires before you even ask. Since flying in first class is expensive, not many choose to ride there, in this case, you will most likely end up getting your very own, personal flight attendant.
Riding in business or first class is not cheap, however flying in either is an amazing experience. With the slight differences between some variables, sitting in either business class or first class is comfortable, personal and relaxing!
